The cake toppers, are simply put those decorations to put on top of the wedding cake, and they usually represent the groom and the bride.

The birth of cake toppers occurs in the late 1800s in America, and were made in resin and plaster.

They were obviously a privilege of high society until years 20s.

Then industry began to manufacture them in large quantities on an industrial scale, and were manufactured in glass, paper, wax or wood.

In the 50s, the toppers had become for married couples an article very fashionable and were made in celluloid.

These pretty pictures are now a must in a wedding cake and are important because they symbolize the romance and marriage between husband and wife, they mean something that indicates the mutual love.
These days are also used on cakes christening, birthday, anniversary and retirement.
