The wedding dress in non-violent silk
Silk is a wonderful fabric and extremely versatile, soft and durable. For its production according to traditional methods it is necessary to dip the cocoons in boiling water to make the caterpillar die  within them.
The non-violent silk (or organic peace-silk or silk ahimsa, as it is called in India) is instead obtained from cocoons in which it allows the larva to complete metamorphosis and become a butterfly.
When exiting from the cocoon, the butterfly has to cut the cocoon:  we obtaine a thread of silk spread into tiny pieces (usually measuring up to 300 meters in length).
For this reason, the spinning becomes more difficult and the thread that emerges is thicker and irregular . Silk non-violent is therefore slightly less soft (a bit 'more similar to cotton to the touch), but it is precious and expensive, because it is difficult to find.
