Castello di Gargonza Monte San Savino

Castello di Gargonza is a privately-owned medieval hamlet, located in southern Tuscany - between Arezzo and Siena - on top of a wooded hill that overlooks the Valdichiana.
Gargonza, surrounded by its forest was, since the 14th century, a fortified hamlet in the hands of the florentine party of the Ghibellines. Then, since 1444, it became an independent community that was governed by its own magistrates for around 300 years.

At the end of the 18th century Gargonza became a farm. After the Second World War, peasants left Gargonza and the roofs of many of its buildings quickly collapsed. In the early 70’s the current owner Count Roberto Guicciardini C.S. began the restoration of the hamlet; the houses where turned into comfortable rooms, the old olive press room was completely renovated to be used for meetings, concerts, lectures and events.

Gargonza still retains its original charming atmosphere and is ideal for wedding parties up to 90 guests, with its church, its restaurant, its swimming-pool, its garden, all available to arrange memorable events.
The Romanesque parish church of the hamlet is available for Catholic ceremonies; the nearby town of Monte San Savino has a beautiful renaissance Town Hall Palace for civil ceremonies.
Cocktails can be arranged in the Limonaia garden or by the pool; the reception usually takes place in the cosy veranda of our restaurant “La Torre di Gargonza”, where we can also arrange night parties with music and cash bar.
The day after is perfect to relax with a late start with brunch, with sunbathing by the pool, with sight-seeing and wine tasting around the region, with shopping at the nearby Prada and Gucci outlets.

Opening time: Closed from 10 January to early March.
Internal catering: Restaurant "La Torre di Gargonza" with typical Tuscan cuisine, fresh home-made pasta and grilled meat or cooked in our wood-burning oven.
